Alessandro Asante is a bartender, chef, martial artist, and builder who co-founded the bar MILES UP in Thailand. More than just a venue, MILES UP was constructed from the ground up—its bar, bottle racks, and glass shelves all hand-built by Alessandro using salvaged wooden pallets and his own tools. His writing captures the flavor, philosophy, and fire of the craft—blending storytelling with practical guides to spirits, smoke, and bar culture. Raised between cultures and seasoned by travel, he now pours his passion into MILES UP, where community gathers beneath warm lights and wooden beams. Alessandro’s books Racked & Poured: Spirits from the Shelf of MILES UP and The Art of Smoking: Mastering Smoke, Fire & Flavor Across Cultures reflect his multicultural roots, culinary expertise, and hands-on experience behind the bar and grill.
